top it off
Tuesday, August 17
Before it's too late, I thought I should mention that a sexy top is mandatory this summer. This essential will instantly elevate an everyday pair of pants or shorts and render any outfit super hot! Keep in mind, these are tops that can also be worn straight into fall, underneath a blazer or an oversized cardigan. I love Elliette's coy open-back blouse, below, this Alix asymmetrical tank, this one-shoulder The Line by K bodysuit, this cut-out Reformation, this halterneck Bottega Veneta, and this Nicholas vintage-looking rib-knit bodysuit. P.S. A one-piece swimsuit like this, this or this could also do the trick!
sweet caroline
Monday, August 16
Summer's not over yet in Stockholm, but photographer Caroline Blomst is already earning her fall-dressing stripes. She's staving off the 60-degree chill with fresh, oversized silhouettes, including the And Other Stories sweater, above (this La Ligne and Toteme are similar). Also on tap: straight-leg jeans by And Other Stories, above, a M Missoni reversible trench coat (last pic), a Longchamp net bag, Arket knits, Monki oval sunglasses, Havianas sandals (with everything), And Other Stories leather thong flats, and the most flattering leggings from MWL.

the slip dress
Friday, August 13
I've been a regular at Bar Pitti in Manhattan since the late '90s, and while I was there last week, feasting on my usual funghi saltati, I could not help but feel like I was back in the late '90s. Because pretty much every female diner there was wearing a slip dress! And now I am game to give it a go again, too. It's the ideal dress for these humid summer days, and I love how it's so easy to layer with an oversized cardigan, sweater, hoodie or blazer. Both model Amalie Moosgaard, above, and Jenny Walton, below are sporting Vince's (also here) navy dress. I also want to slip in to these by The Reformation (on sale), Zara, The Row, Toteme, and Fleur de Mal.

merlette and me
Friday, August 13
Several years ago on a photo shoot I fell in love with a stylist's dress. It was effortlessly chic, ready for work and play. It was by Merlette. These days the New York City-based line and its easy yet exceedingly elegant pieces, including the floral dress, above, still have my heart, and I even got my twin sis hooked, too (see below in this handkerchief skirt)! We've also been working (and playing) in this and this. Check out the entire range here.
khakis in copenhagen
Thursday, August 12
Can we talk about the baggy khaki situation happening in Copenhagen right now? (And then we can resume dissecting the greatness that is The White Lotus on HBO--I am so obsessed!) What do we think? It is practical yet edgy. I think I like! But I'd opt for not TOO oversized, like these from Cos, Ganni, Victoria Beckham, and Zara.

sell out
Thursday, August 12
For all those who compliment a dress I'm wearing and then roll their eyes when I tell them it's by H&M, here you go. (You know who you are!) The above ruffled (Zimmermann-spirited) $34 lovely also comes in cream. P.S. I also came across this steal, this knockout and this under $200 (Ulla-like) Ann Taylor winner, below. You're welcome!
bring it black
Wednesday, August 11
Copenhagen's mid-August Fashion Week always provides a sneak peek into fall's coming styles, and as these pics reveal, black is back, big-time. Some are opting for head-to-toe noir, while others are lightening things up with bold prints (like Sea New York's cult jacket, above). I think the easiest way to jump on the bandwagon is via a do-it-all pair of freshly-cut black jeans (Levi's, AGOLDE or Slverlake) or loose-fitting trousers (Zara, Cos, Envelope1976). Also on point are these options from En Saison (throw a blazer over it), H&M, The Frankie Shop, Cefinn, and Nili Lotan.
