My family flew in from all over (Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Princeton, and Dominican Republic) to celebrate my birthday in New York City over the weekend--and we definitely made the most of it. We dined at Cervos, The Odeon, L'Avenue, Los Tacos #1, La Mercerie, Double Zero, Sadelle's and Bar Pitti (of course). When we weren't eating, we checked out The Whitney, played ping pong, biked up the West Side Highway, ran along the East River, and even watched an epic movie (Stillwater). Yesterday my friend Abigail threw a birthday lunch for my sister and me at her beautiful home in Greenwich Village. It provided an opportunity for us to celebrate another turn around the sun and toast (in Swedish, thanks to Lucia) to our enduring friendships. Our catch-up chitchat also yielded some much-appreciated, trustworthy intel, such as the eye-opening lash-lengthening powers of Thrive Cosmetics' mascara (and its new tubing technology), the game-changing skin-enhancing benefits of Sakara's Chlorophyll Drops, the miracle-working hair-thickening Harlinikken scalp treatment, the compact cuteness of this Boyy bag, the flattering nature of Veronica Beard's bootcut jeans, the Aspen-chicness of this fringed Zara turtleneck, and finally the greatness that is this Mayle (my namesake!) dress . Trying to steal my twin sis's new oversized cashmere Cos sweater and getting caught (dang!) indirectly led me to discover this cool wool cape (for $135!). When I went online to buy my own sweater, I stumbled across this cover-up, imbued with a very chic yet slightly avant grade vibe. Kind of Hermes meets Gabriella Hearst. I'm going to throw it over turtlenecks and long-sleeve t-shirts--and said sweater.

Mango's jumpsuit situation is not only compelling but convincing me I need to wear nothing else this fall! The one-and-done outfit could not be easier to throw on--and yet it looks totally pulled together. I especially love the belted denim one, above, and the sharp-looking suit-inspired version, below.

Big blazers are back again this fall, but this time around they are less structured and more borrowed-from-the-boys loose-fitting. In Paris this week, these jackets are being paired with everything from casual jeans to trousers to edgy statement dresses. Despite all the trips around the sun my twin sister and I have made together, I've always found it difficult to find her the right birthday present every year! But not this one! Thank you, Minnie and Emma, for this cute vintage cassette shadow box--a little piece of art with major impact. (It even comes with D-rings for hanging!) Perfect for her new NYC apartment! The only challenge is deciding on the musical artist. The Grateful Dead? The Cure? Beastie Boys? All epic!
