in the trenches
Monday, March 4
Fashion Month, currently winding down, has seen attendees geared up in all kinds of looks for all kinds of weather in New York, London, Milan and Paris. However, there was one piece of clothing that segued seamlessly from city to city: the trench coat. This wardrobe classic is making a huge--and I mean HUGE--comeback, just in time for spring (and, perhaps even, snow showers!). It's cut bigger this time around--oversized and long--and tops everything from casual jeans and a blouse to a full-on party dress. I love these versions from Alex Mill (love the price, too!!), Marc Jacobs, Acne Studios (on sale!), English Factory, Asos (under $100!), and Burberry (40% off).
doing doen
Friday, March 1
"For the first time since forecasters began recording data—at least 132 years—the mercury did not reach 70 degrees in downtown Los Angeles for the entire month of February"-- today's LA Times. (Crazy, huh?!) Which makes us Angelenos more excited than usual for spring's warmth and me, in particular, eagerly anticipating the day when I can throw on one of Doen's just-out spring dresses and blouses. The LA-based line has Cali-cool dressing nailed, of course. Prime examples include: this billowy, laid-back blouse, above, and the pretty floral dress below. You might want to check out the entire new collection here before it all sells out as per usual.
big bags
Friday, March 1
Another big spring trend is currently blowing up on the streets of Paris: Large, oversize bags, and they are dutifully lugging lives to and fro around the city in style. I love these versions from Corroon (with hand painted initials, natch!), Isabel Marant, Alexander Wang, Fendi, Proenza Schouler, and Cleobella.
fresh spring staples
Thursday, February 28
Looks like spring has sprung in Paris, with fashion week attendees welcoming the new season in noticeably updated wardrobe staples. Think white jeans, but this season, they're freshly loose-fitting and long, like these by Eve Denim, Joe's Jeans, and GRLFRND. Denim is also distinctly dark and crisp. My favorite these styles are by Joseph, Levi's and Khaite. Meanwhile, heels are super sexy in the form of barely-there strappy sandals (this pair by The Row is poised to be "it," or this and this). Another feminine option: a sleek pointy-toe black pump. The last pic tempts me to modernize my go-to army jacket with Equipment's polished belted one (this H&M also good!). All in all, these are looks that are enduringly stylish and everyday wearable--perfection!
hot shop
Wednesday, February 27
As my husband and I ate lunch al freso in Malibu today, the weather seemed to fluctuate from hot to cold, then hot again. We kept taking off our jackets, then putting them back on. The see-sawing temperature settled one thing, though: spring is coming! And I'm feeling certain that now's a good time to prep for the transitional weather, hot, cold, hot and then hot, hot, hot! Well, Shopbop comes in with the win, staging a most timely and epic sale, featuring pretty much everything I want to wear now and later (hint: skirt below, bikini, above!). Also dying for: this seriously cute Red Carter eyelet dress, this Stylekeepers belted jean jacket, these Rag & Bone booties, this ATM Anthony Thomas Mellilo leopard-print field jacket, this Ulla Johnson frilled mini dress, and this Clare V basket tote bag.

sun valley
Monday, February 25
As I'm still limping around, last week's ski trip to Sun Valley had me skiing less and shopping more. (Still, I dressed the part in Perfect Moment ski pants and a chunky Topshop cardigan!) In case you did not know, this mountain town boasts not only breathtaking, treeless (and seemingly forever-going) slopes, but masterfully-curated, treasure-filled consignment shops! My retail therapy prompted visits to Deju Vu and Consign Design (in my opinion, the best two spots!) and yielded this logo-happy Fendi tote bag (similar to this) and a faux leopard-print fur Jean Paul Gauthier statement jacket that looks a wee bit like this. The shopping continued slope side with this Ulla Johnson embellished turtleneck and this stylish Sweaty Betty base layer for the next ski trip! Now that I'm back home, I'm hoping I get back in shape soon for my wallet's sake!
now and later
Friday, February 22
Of all the new Fall 2019 runway looks I've seen thus far, this Veronica Beard leopard fleece ranks among my favorites. It's a perfect blend of laid-back and luxe. A genius layering piece. An everyday staple and night-worthy, too. And come next September, when it's delivered, I'll be wearing it day in and day out! (Mark my words: it will sell out, which is why I pre-ordered!) In the meantime, I just found one of my key spring staples, an oversized, wear-with-everything army overshirt, inspired by the pic below. You can find it here!
the oversized turtleneck
Thursday, February 21
From the look of things, the oversize outerwear trend is expanding into turtleneck territory, ushering out a fresh-looking, bigger-is-better silhouette that's both full of comfort and style. As these current street style pics demonstrate, they're growing in popularity from New York to London. Topping my list are these versions from The Row (on mega sale!), La Ligne, Topshop, &Daughter, Tory Sport, Fendi, and Nili Lotan.
