Santa's elves tipped me off that Shopbop is clearing out loads of gift-worthy goodies at up to 65% off. Highlights include the above faux fur jacket by Mother, which I almost stole off my friend's back the other day. There aren't many cardigans out there that can swing into work then proceed to party the night away, but this feathered Banana Republic does all that--and, I bet, even more! I also love that it's fancy enough to layer over a fun dress yet chill enough to pair with jeans.

Holiday parties and festive dresses typically go hand in hand, but this year I've been enjoying some more casual jean-friendly soirees, including an alfresco dinner party I hosted last week with my sister and Gwyneth Paltrow. See pics here. The party trick is to dress up the denim, of course, which I did with a pair of Chanel slingbacks and an old embellished H&M sweater. I'd like to stay on this party train with more holly, jolly denim-enhancing pieces from Emerson Thorpe, Roland Mouret, Georgia Alice, Isabel Marant, Rebecca Minkoff, and Gucci.

Earlier this week I had lunch with a swimsuit designer friend who had just returned from Australia. Along with her Southern Hemisphere summer glow, she had on a cute new top by Aussie brand Acler. As soon as I returned home, I wandered the web to find one for myself but found this striped Acler dress instead. Score, mate!

I thought I had the high-waist jean situation nailed in my wardrobe (with pairs by J.Crew, Eve, and Citizens of Humanity), but then these pics of French designer Jeanne Damas convinced me more colors are in order.
