LE CATCH

Currently at 35,000 feet, on a flight back to LA, my old battered carry-on suitcase in the overhead bin, I'm thinking I need a upgrade, one that would in an ideal world involve a monogram and gorgeous leather trim, like the Globe Trotters, above. But since this suitcase is about as pricey as plane ticket to Timbucktu, I could also fly in style with these options, all owned/recommended by my frequent flying friends: Briggs & Riley (which is expandable), Rimowa (so light!), Samsonite (made with forever durable canvas), Tumi (my husband's go to) and Flight 001 (easy and practical).

Courtesy of a friend I had dinner with last night, I have a new jean obsession, and it's called Amo. These jeans are distinctly cool in that they're vented at the ankles, perfectly faded and crazy amazing ridiculously flattering. And it seems I am not the only one head over heels, as I just came across this pic of Sienna Miller in Vogue, arriving in Rome, wearing her own pair. P.S. That she would fly in these jeans also says a lot about their comfort and versatility. I also love this pair here.

The anything-but-black biker jackets I am seeing out and about are compelling in that they come across as elegant, sophisticated and decidedly fresh-looking, while still offering the same closet staple value: wear with everything and throw over your shoulders and go. I'm loving these versatile neutral-hued versions by Iro, Ganni, T By Alexander Wang, Whistles and Maison Scotch.

Thanks to LA's endless summer (with temps continuing to hover around 80 degrees for the next week!), I've been getting lots of play out of my Vita Kin dress, above, which I love and, taking into account all the stop-me-on-the-street compliments the dress gets, it seems many other people do, too! Unfortunately, this handmade piece is long sold out, but today I discovered similar intricately embroidered versions for a lot less money here (see below). I bought this striking boho top, which will work just as well when the mercury finally dips!

Just a little bit of shearling is going to go a long way this winter, as demonstrated in the snaps here. Of course, not only will this plush accent offer extra warmth but an up-to-date, winter-coat-and-then-some look! I'd like to fend off Mr. Frost in these furry friends by Tibi, Rebecca Taylor, Rag & Bone, Topshop, Paige, Pepe Jeans, and BCBG.

This amazing H&M find reminds me of the gorgeously embellished dresses and skirts I saw at Andrew Gn's Spring 2016 show in Paris a few weeks ago. The jewel-like beading is super opulent looking and yet it's a steal!

My twin sister is currently working in Paris, spending the little downtime she has running around the city trying to nab this season's most coveted, already-sold-out-in-the-US shoe, the Chanel slingback, above. (I managed to snap up a pair while I was there a few weeks ago!) This toe- capped, mid-heeled shoe was featured in Chanel's Fall 2015 ready-to-wear show with nearly all of the 98 looks. So far, my sister hasn't had any luck in landing a pair of her own. I recommend she set her sights forward and buy the next must-have shoe, the resort-ready Gucci crossover sandal, below. Get them now while they last here.
