summer shift
Monday, June 30
In walked my friend to pick me up for dinner at Scopa in Venice the other night, wearing a creamy white organza shift dress by Topshop. Her tanned limbs practically glowed, and with her hair up in a loose ponytail, she personified summer's lustrous ease. Of course, short little dresses go hand in hand with summer like long beach days and rose wine. I am enamored with them as they easily go from day to night, stand up to the grimiest heat waves and, with either flats or heels, look impeccably chic. Other small, summery miracles include this fringed Alexander Wang (pictured below, also available here), this DKNY, this Rag & Bone (similar to above), this Lover, this Club Monaco, this Mango, and this Alice & Olivia.

high tee
Friday, June 27
A white t-shirt is one of my year-round wardrobe staples, but I really put them to work during the summer. To anchor statement skirts and print shorts. To temper a sequin skirt or patterned pants. To stay cool without compromising style. The pic, above, makes me want to wear a white tee even more frequently--and, of course, seek out better, chicer options than I currently have. As we all know finding the right t-shirt is no simple task, as nailing all the details--fit, fabric, sleeve length--can be complex. Still, I think I've already hit upon some ideal ones from Current/Elliot, Rag & Bone, Toteme, Acne Studios, and Free People.

capri sun

This summer I'd like nothing more than a one-way ticket to Capri! It's one of my favorite places (to unwind, shop, and eat) in the world. On One Kings Lane today, I share all my go-to spots on Capri, plus what to wear, etc. You can check it out here.
manning milan
Wednesday, June 25
It's men's fashion week in Milan, and for the female attendees, it appears to be all about embracing their inner tomboys--and wearing sneakers with just about everything. Of course, sneakers have been in vogue for a while now, but the new and emerging trend is that now they're being teamed with more fancy, feminine finery, specifically dresses and skirts, as demonstrated in these images. Only certain sneakers can pull off this look (i.e., don't try this with your everyday running kicks!), and they are of the slip-on or streamlined, old-school variety, such as these guys by Vince (similar to one directly below), Common Projects, Adidas (as pictured above), Saint Laurent, and Vans.

long skirts
Tuesday, June 24
Introducing the new linchpin to my summer uniform: a long, breezy skirt. (I own the white one by Zara pictured below, as do several of my friends, both petite and tall. Alas, it's now sold out!) What's most appealing about this silhouette is its wear-anywhere ability. It can be dressed up or down--i.e., with sky-high heels or simple sandals; either way, it looks decidedly chic. I also know it will keep me cool on a hot summer day, and it doesn't need major accessories. In fact, the simpler, the better, I think. Some skirts to consider: this jersey flared Nicholas (similar to the white Zara one below), this swishy chiffon Theory, this eyelet Tibi (40% off!), this vibrant Topshop, this linen pocketed Asos, and this Zara (pictured above).
