Last week I went to the Designers and Agents show in LA, a bi-annual trade show where designers exhibit and sell their upcoming collections, and I came across a booth stocked with the most drool-worthy, distinctly chic clutches by Brazil-based label . There were sleek zig zig mother of pearl minaudieres, ombre silk clutches and eye-popping neon snakeskin styles. They were all insane: delicate, refined and elegant yet decidedly modern and super wearable. I asked the sales rep if I could make a personal order. She said I'd need to order 10, as the designer only sells to the trade (i.e. retailers). I asked for a line sheet, took some pics, and promptly emailed friends to see if they wanted to order one as well. One hour later I had 23 orders--a testament to the bags' insaneness. I am telling you: you must get your hands on one of these puppies when they ship to stores in February. They retail between $150-$500. The bags I bought (a white snakeskin minaudiere and a mother of pearl one) will be sold at Kitson. Be on the lookout!
A vibrant yet sensible day dress that's very Miu Miu '40s-romantic.
Wear it with this...
1. Miss Selfridge oriental sleeved dress, $62, missselfridge.com
2. House of Harlow leather stud earrings, $32, charmandchain.com
3. Calypso spike minaudiere, $250, calypsostbarth.com
4. Barneys cut-out bootie, $425, barneys.com
P.S. I think the black accessories are important because they help toughen up the dress (i.e., so it doesn't look so matronly.) My twin sister, who has a more downtown sensibility, thinks mannish brogues would be perfect with this dress. Try these.
There's something Proenza-tribal-jet-setter-chic about this blazer. Non?
