I was on a successful super-baggy-jeans-wearing streak--until my teenage boys found out I was borrowing theirs. Somehow, they have curated a stockpile that nails the baggy to becoming ratio–at least for me! Now, I have to get some of my own. I love the Maison Margiela, above, but not so much the big price tag, so right now I have a pair of Levi's 501 90's jeans, sized up 3x, en route, but I also like these by Slvrlake because the dark denim reads polished. These mid-rise Triarchy also look everyday-promising as do these by Citizens of Humanity, Goldsign (trouser-like!), and AGOLDE. At least I already know exactly what I'll be wearing them with. November 1 is not only the day after Halloween and National Cook for Your Pets Day (no joke!), it's also, in my calendar, the kick-off to holiday shopping season! How fortuitous then that I came across UK-based Lily & Bean's monogrammed bags. The vintage trunk-inspired suitcase, for $375 above, can be personalized in at least 576 different ways (according to my son's math!), with over 48 different colored stripes to choose from. (Talk about analysis paralysis!) Also compelling is the denim and chain link tote bag and duffle weekender, $235. The small leather goods also make for good stocking stuffers. There I was innocently sipping an oat cappuccino at Michaeli (and, okay, scarfing a chocolate rugelach) in Dimes Square when a beautiful woman strolled by wearing a striking oversized sweater and plum-colored leather skirt. All of a sudden, I transformed into a stalker. I ran after her to find out what she was wearing. It was this Max Mara faux leather skirt (for $285!) and this Guest in Residencecashmere sweater. She went on to tell me how she's stocking up on Guest in Residence for winter (and now so am I including the above) because they look dressed but not. In other words, the pinnacle of cool!
