The retro-looking slide may be this summer's go-to shoe, but to stand out in the crowd, I prefer one in a fresh and unexpected shade. Think anything but black and rather rust, red, or patent leather pink! Those more neutral leaning should consider slipping into grey suede (above), or wear-everywhere taupe. Pair with cropped jeans (like this, this, this, or this) and a relaxed button-down and you're good to go!

My heart yearns for this lacy Zimmermann--which blogger Jessica Stein, above, beautifully wears backwards--but, even though it's on sale, my wallet shudders at the price. Thankfully, a similar, less expensive version from Jen's Pirate Booty just popped on Shopbop and, what's more, it's designed with the seductive crisscross detailing in front!

Some of my close friends refer to my closet as the Lending Library. In they go to pull a few articles of clothing and days later return them, dry cleaned and good as new. Turns out I've just discovered my own library. It's called Armarium, and this New York-based mobile app allows you to borrow pieces from an expertly curated lineup of couture, ready-to-wear, and accessories, along with the option of hiring a professional stylist to assist with day-of dressing needs. Last week, I put Armarium to use (minus the stylist!) and borrowed the new and already sold-out-everywhere Peter Pilotto dress, above. The dress retails for $1660, but I rented it for 4 days for $250. Armarium focuses on major statement dresses, and inventory is constantly updated, so there's always something new to wear! A close friend of mine just returned from St. Tropez with a sun-kissed glow, a rose-at-lunchtime proclivity and a bevy of alluring new swimsuits. Specifically the French-chic kind, which, bien sur, have just the right amount of sexy! Take for example, the pretty lace bikini, above, featuring an oh-so-romantic ruffle-trimmed bralette top. I'm now thinking that my scorching hot summer day style plan will center around the silk camisole top. Thank you, Celine, for bringing back this '90s hit. The comeback is warranted, of course, as it goes with summer's most key staples, such as a pair of wide-leg trousers, culottes, jeans and a midi skirt (I wouldn't go shorter than above the knee, lest I want to show off too much skin!), plus it's sleek, sexy and shoulder-baring--like that other ubiquitous summer top--and easy to layer. I prefer camisoles that look suitable outside the boudoir, such as these by The Reformation, Tibi, The Row, and Theory.

It all started with me wanting a new summer bag. One that I could use day in and day out. One that would fly in Malibu and Manhattan. It would be roomy enough to fit my laptop, kids' snacks along with other random, unessential things. Though I could clearly envision this dreamy bag, I could not find it. Anywhere.
