shopping my sister's closet
Monday, April 9
Sometimes when I feel like shopping I just head over to my sister's house instead--and mine her closet. Frequently there are new acquisitions to check out and always compelling old things to borrow. My last foray into her closet occurred this past Friday, and I came across a colorful embroidered skirt, pictured above, from Forever 21. ("It was the last one at the store," she shrugged, possibly explaining why she didn't pick up one for me.) It's absolutely adorable, kind of ethnic and/or vintage looking, so fun for summer, a day at the beach, or kicking around on the weekends, with sandy flip flops and a t-shirt. The next discovery was the ikat print blouse, below, also from Forever 21. She said she had already worn it with black lace pants, and the effect was Thakoon-chic. Lastly, she showed me the tan and black striped accordion pleated skirt. It's very languid, swishy and sheer, and a bit sporty too--so cute with a black sweater or a white tank. Of course, as soon as I went home, I went online and bought the very same items.

sophie hulme
Friday, April 6
I just discovered London-based designer Sophie Hulme, and it's quite possible that I am already one of her biggest fans. She makes both bags and clothing, imbued with a classic, polished, Manhattan-chic aesthetic, and the prices are not crazy ridiculous. Check out my favorite pieces from her spring/summer collection. Fantastic, no?

the LA must-have
Thursday, April 5
Meet LA's current "it" shoe. Jenni Kayne's d'orsay flats have reached cult status, thanks to the city's chicest girls who were buying them at a rate that the designer, until recently, could not keep up with. (Kayne's new Brentwood store now stocks the entire collection). With its pointy toe and high opening (no toe cleavage here!), this shoe is a fresher, more modern alternative to the long-loved ballet slipper. Now all you have to do is pick a color. Any color.
my new little black dress
Thursday, April 5
Offering forever wearability and evergreen chicness, a little black dress is a wardrobe necessity. This one, with its web-like crochet detailing, is extra special. It's also ideal for traveling, since you could wear it day (with gladiator sandals) or night (with sexy heels). I'd wear it to a festive dinner party with...

cute cover-ups
Wednesday, April 4
How cute are these drawstring dresses from Madewell? They're ideal for the beach or whirling through the Farmer's Market or traipsing around on a hot summer day. I can't decide which color I like better, but I am leaning toward the green and blue.
MVP t-shirt

I am so not a t-shirt type of girl, but I'll be wearing this jersey-inspired top to death. I view it as an alternative to one of my beloved blue and white striped t-shirts, because it offers the same versatility and ease. It's just newer, fresher, more now. Wear it with...

My co-workers at Lucky and various stylists I know have been buzzing about Club Monaco's spring collection. The label has taken on a more sophisticated direction, and everything from the line's dresses to sweaters look distinctly sleeker and more polished. Case in point is the boxy jacket above. Kind of has a Celine vibe to it. The icing on the cake is that Club Monaco is now shoppable online, so you can snap up goodies, deskside. Here's what I have my eye on.
