lela's wedges
Wednesday, February 8
Designer Lela Rose came out with another brilliant capsule collection for Payless, and these coral wedges are hands-down the standout. I can imagine wearing them during the balmy days of summer, my legs tan, with an ombre pedicure and a cute, short dress. Wear these with...
1. Diane Von Furstenberg dress, $385, shopbop.com
2. Sang A Mini Pop tote, $895, kirnazabete.com
3. Lela Rose for Payless T-strap wedge, $54, payless.com
P.S. I once had the pleasure of attending an intimate dinner party at Lela's Manhattan apartment. It's incredible, with amazing photography, a circular banquette in the living room, and a wood table that rises up from the floor. You can see pics here.
sweater haul
Tuesday, February 7
Okay, my dear readers, this Zara sweater costs a mere $19 bucks and comes in four colors (mint green as shown, black, white and beige). It has a coy-ish key hole in the back, and it's lightweight and super soft. I bought one in black and love it so much I am thinking I might just buy one in every color. Did I mention the $19 price tag? Crazy good deal. It will be a sweater you live in, trust me.
leather strap clutch
Tuesday, February 7
This clutch is channeling Reed Krakoff, but it is more bohemian, almost vintage looking. The neutral leather means it's endlessly versatile. The more worn in it gets, the better it will look. Wear it with...
1. Ann Taylor clutch, $158, anntaylor.com
2. A.P.C. pocket sweater, $385, barneys.com
3. Karen Walker sunglasses, $180, shoplesnouvelles.com

straight from the beauty dept.
Monday, February 6
I had breakfast with Kristen Ess, hairstylist and founder of the cultish beauty blog, The Beauty Department the other day. She was wearing this bright fuchsia pink lipstick that I could not take my eyes off of. The color is unabashedly feminine and downright fun, and it complimented her skin tone, but it also made her whole look (outfit and all) pop. And I like that it's a departure from all the crimson lips we've been seeing. It may just be my new lip shade.
the editor's sweater
Monday, February 6
Lucky's editor-in-chief Brandon Holley was in LA last week, and we had back-to-back meetings with all kinds of interesting folks. Last Friday, we went to the Who What Wear offices to see co-founder (and our friend) Hillary Kerr. Brandon showed up wearing an apres ski-like, color-blocked sweater similar to this one, with a Boy by Band of Outsiders cropped schoolboy blue blazer over it and crisp blue jeans. Then she added a bold gold necklace. It was the essence of casual chic. You can wear this one with...
1. French Connection sweater, $108, frenchconnection.com
2. Boy. by Band of Outsiders cotton and linen blend jacket, $1115, netaporter.com
3. Lulu Frost teardrop necklace, $385, lulufrost.com
4. Citizens of Humanity boot-cut jeans, $135, shopbop.com
P.S. Brandon proved her deft packing skills, by wearing the same Boy by Band of Outsiders blazer to lunch in Venice Beach the next day, with matching navy shorts and this 10 Crosby blouse and simple sandals. It was a very chic-New Yorker-at-the-beach outfit. I am totally going to copy her.
P.P.S. If you're a stickler for cashmere, try this color-blocked jumper from J. Crew.

me!
Thursday, February 2
Look here! Sorry for the shameless self-promotion, but I HAD to share with you all. I was featured on Tory Burch's blog. Let me just tell you, I've been wearing the pom pom cardigan (pictured on the right) to pieces. It's sort of quirky, but sophisticated. And thoroughly comfortable, too.
tropicana skirt
Thursday, February 2
A fun, vibrant, totally-of-the-moment skirt. Wear it with...
1. Sandro silk lotus flower print tank, $220, netaporter.com
2. Topshop cropped knit cardigan, $76, topshop.com
3. Lanvin slingbacks, $1325, neimanmarcus.com
4. Warehouse mirror print pencil skirt, $71, warehouse.co.uk
* It was 60 degrees in NYC yesterday. Hopefully, it will warm up again during NY fashion week. This outfit would fit right in, but with tights and perhaps this attention-getting, arm-covering blouse instead. Still, the silk print tank above is adorable, great with everything from black leather leggings to casual denim shorts.
julia's shoes
Wednesday, February 1
Photo: Phil Oh
Vogue recently named London-based stylist and fashion editor Julia Sarr Jarmois an "It Girl." Her personal style is rooted in bold and unusual prints, clashing patterns and colors, vintage dresses and, of course, her gorgeous voluminous hair--an edgy signature look that has garnered a cult-like following and appearances on thousands of style blogs. For spring, Julia offers some easy-to-follow, wardrobe-updating styling tips:
1. Pair mismatched striped pieces
2. Layer different shades of pastels
3. Go for bright, printed socks
4. Wear bold statement shoes (she's wearing Azzedine Alaia heels in the pic above)
Her last directive really resonates with me. If there's a quick and easy way to elevate/punctuate an outfit, it's through statement shoes, and there's no shortage of them for spring. I'm loving this one by Carven (how cute are those bows?), these Nicholas Kirkwood knockouts (we had these shoes on a Lucky cover shoot and miraculously they worked with every different outfit tried on), and these iconic jewel-toed flame sandals by Prada (expect these to sell out quickly). What distinguishes all these shoes is that they are easy to integrate into your wardrobe (i.e. you don't have to buy around them), and they are not so statement-y or occasional. These are shoes you can wear (i.e. show off) all the time.
