Paris Fashion Week has given me a front-row seat without requiring me to get out of . Chloé, Balenciaga, Stella McCartney, The Row: I’m analyzing, screenshotting, and mentally rummaging through my closet. Do I have something with a ? How about a , like the one above? Where is that ? And why am I eyeing fur and feathers while sitting here in LA with the air-conditioning on? Spring ’27, however, is making a very persuasive case for pastels, sequins, volume, and skirts upon skirts. I’m already taking inventory of what I own that might qualify—and what might qualify if I wore it differently. Something crazy with something decidedly ordinary on the bottom? How about s rather than my jeans. Meanwhile, the boulevards outside the shows are supplying plenty of ideas for getting dressed now: bold-hued outerwear (, and ), , and . I’m also adding to my outfit experiments. Small adjustments—see the presented at , below—with the potential to make familiar clothes feel newly acquired. More market research: a (a la Balenciaga, below), a brushed leather ballerina in the perfect shade of toffee brown, athat does most of the work (also hurry before the just-launched leather-trimmedtopper sells out, below!), a lace skirt with some swish (um, that I just bought!). I don’t need an entirely new wardrobe. Even though Paris is submitting strong evidence to the contrary…
