Landed in New York less than 24 hours ago and already feel like I’ve had a front-row seat to fall style. Tribeca is its own runway this week—models drifting between castings in perfectly slouchy jeans paired with button-downs, sleek tailored blazers or chic parkas. Dinner at Odeon last night, below, was a study in casual elegance (I wore well-fitting denim, a statement blouse and a beaded jacket), and this morning’s coffee run to Laughing Man doubled as a cool workout gear seminar. Then I read Vogue's rundown on NYFW, which declared that September wardrobes will revert to a trusty, familiar combo: a blazer and jeans. I’ve barely unpacked, but it’s clear my suitcase is missing a few fall essentials: something collared and striped, both button-down, above (I love the piping!), mixed-up, and rugby-ish, vintage-feeling (below), and layers that read more “effortlessly cool” than “trying too hard" (this, this and this). New York wastes no time in reminding you exactly where your style gaps are.
