life of the party
Monday, November 14
Of course, not all holiday parties are created equal. Some will demand decadent sequins, while others perhaps just a trophy top with jeans. Either way I will be covered, thanks to Net-A-Porter's all-encompassing party edit, which offers up everything from feathers to leggings and everything festive in between. No matter what I wear, however, I just want to be comfortable above all else. Jeans and a Toteme statement top (above) fit the bill. So doe the Commission sequin and tulle pencil skirt, below, and the one-and-done feather trimmed Taller Marmo, last pic. I'd also love to whirl around the party circuit in these pieces by Isabel Marant, Rebecca Vallance, Dodo Bar Or, and Herve Leger (not what you'd expect!). Peruse the edit here!

dressed for action
Friday, November 11
Friends and family flew in from all over this week, and it's been non-stop cruise-directing for me: dinner partying, brunching at San Vicente Bungalows, shopping in Beverly Hills, late-afternoon lunching in Malibu! Of course, I've been dressing up for all of it, starting with the party-perfect diaphanous organza Doen, above, and this seductive lace L'Agence (I love a huge turtleneck over it and high-knee boots!) The party continues this weekend, and I'll have the opportunity to bust out these cuties from Beaufille, Goop, and Rotate Birger Christensen. Happy Friday!
dressed to dine
Thursday, November 10
A friend bound for Paris texted me the other day asking for restaurant recommendations. Quickly, I rattled off a few of my favorites--Sauvage, Chez Omar, Chez Georges (pictured)--but felt like I was forgetting some more obvious options. So, I ended up doing a deep dive online and, FYI, came across a compelling round-up of stylish tastemakers' favorite restaurants in Paris on Porter. The insider-y feature not only served up new hot boites I am now eager to sample, but also, ever so helpfully, suggested what to wear while dining at each spot. Genius! Now I know that I can wear these jeans to Le Voltaire and this Toteme jacket to Le Stresa. Porter also has insider guides to London (I'll take an order of this) and New York (and these)!
top shopping
Wednesday, November 9
This cool faux leather Topshop coat reminds me why I was once a hard core Topshop devotee, inspired to fly from LA to London to make what felt like bank robbery raids on its Oxford Circus flagship. Upon returning home with my loot, everyone would obsess over the amazing pieces, which were otherwise rarely, if ever, spotted in NY, let alone LA. Of course, those days are now long over, and Oxford's Topshop is now home to IKEA, but at least I can still get my Topshop fix via Nordstrom. And score other gems such as this, this and this.
P.S. Another High Street favorite in London, River Island is staying on top of things with its seriously good $140 sherpa coat, below! LOVE!

fresh tracks
Tuesday, November 8
This vegan(!) leather Rebecca Taylor outfit stopped my in my world-wide-webbing tracks this morning, capturing my attention with its buttery softness, wine-colored richness, can-be-worn-separately versatility, and, last but not least, its amazingly discounted price! And then there was even more: the Paco Rabanne-like medallion bag by Staud, below, for $148, that will soon accompany me to the Tropics, these perfectly-cut, light-wash Frame jeans, this endlessly wearable Ulla Johnson dress, this cozy patchwork Sea sweatshirt, and these spot on oval Le Specs sunnies.
polo player
Tuesday, November 8
A pink Polo Ralph Lauren shirt is pretty much the last thing I'd expect my son--a lifetime subscriber to board shorts and surf tees--to ask me for, but I (and my inner East Coast-bred prepster) was more than happy to fulfill his request. He needed it, he explained, for a preppy-themed party and possibly for occasions beyond. And so I went into Beverly Hills the other day and reacquainted myself with polo horses, Western prints and cable-knit cashmere--all of which I used to wear back when I was my son's age--and fell in love with these stylish classics all over again. Naturally, I decided I could use some additional forever-chic staples in my wardrobe to effect that flawless, timeless, back-to-basics look (similar to above)--things like this camel crew-neck that looks way more luxe than its $268 price tag (I'd size up for a roomy fit), these divine high-waist day-to-night leather pants, this apres ski-ready intarsia/jacquard print mockneck, this houndstooth puffer and this under-$200 A-line denim skirt.
singular sale
Monday, November 7
Last I checked, Black Friday and Cyber Monday were the shopping sales to bookmark in November. But I just discovered Singles' Day, which is a holiday celebrated on 11/11 in China. Unmarried people commemorate the occasion by treating themselves to gifts, and now it's become the biggest online and offline shopping day in the world, topping both Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined! (The date 11/11 was chosen because the numeral 1 resembles a bare stick--A.K.A., an unmarried man who does not add "branches" to the family tree.) Paradoxically, the holiday has become a popular date on which to celebrate relationships, too. I'm game to indulge myself at 24S's sale (22% off $250/24% off $500/26% off $1000/28% off $1500), already in full swing, featuring the most lust-worthy styles (read: self-gifts), including the romantic Rotate Birger Christensen open-back dress, above, this cult Khaite cardigan, this iconic Chloe bag, this chunky Toteme knit, this floral Zimmermann, this JW Anderson embellished tank, and these Birkenstock lined mules. Check out the epic sale stock here!
