monday morn
Monday, July 13
It may be Monday, but from a fashion standpoint it's casual Friday--again. In other words, it's easy breezy, 24/7, nailed in dresses trapped in my closet like the Reformation, above (similar here and here), and Zara, below. (My $95 pave daisy necklace can be found here!) On the agenda to make a splash this week: this polka dot Loretta Caponi (obsessed!), this simple Staud shirt-dress, and this J.Crew pull-on slip skirt (last pic, teamed with a bathing suit or a tank)!
cover girl
Monday, July 13
My twin sis managed to escape to Nantucket for a week, and I've been living vicariously via her text updates--a sunset picnic in Sconset, a self-captained Boston Whaler boat ride--colorfully illustrated with gorgeous family photos (and hydrangeas seemingly bursting from every background bush). Another standout sight she described: everyone's face coverings! As strange and disorienting as they are to see, she said, the flip side is a veritable sea of cute, responsibly-worn masks! Inspired by the island's elevated mask game, she snapped up some new fashion-y ones to complement her pretty dresses and tops--and I'm now doing the same, starting with the above assorted cloth 4-pack from Clare V, along with these feminine floral ones from Bauble Bar (priced at cost!), and this checked Gemelli face-covering, which comes with a PM2.5 filter.
marni home
Monday, July 13
Marni's signature mix of lustrous layers, unexpected textures, and whimsical details is making its way out of my closet and into my living room, with its just-launched home decor collection at Farfetch. Of course, it's downright drool-worthy--and surprisingly well-priced! The woven furniture (including the coolest rocking chairs, above and below) is beyond and so are the smaller accents such baskets, place mats and trays (below). Check out the incredible collection here and here! (P.S. For my wardrobe, I'd love more of Marni's striking market totes like this and this!)
inbound
Friday, July 10
I can so relate to New York-based illustrator Jenny Walton's recent selfie, captioned, "Summer in my apartment," as I find myself spending more time at home than ever before. Even so, Jenny's whimsical summer spirit has the ability to transcend her NYC confines--and I'm totally inspired to follow suit! Literally. I adore her vintage print Dodo Bar Or bikini (on sale now) and Lola bucket hat. I'd also like to embrace the moment (and step out of my own closet confines!) with these striking embellished Ancient Greek Sandals, this bright mini denim dress by Asos, this print-happy Marks & Spencer cover-up and this mind-blowingly gorgeous Zimmermann blouse. Happy Summer Weekend!
my posse
Thursday, July 9
Perfect and right on the money for this summer's (less) travel and (at-home) leisure: Posse's wardrobe basics in high-quality fabrics. I recently discovered this Australian brand and its knack for effortless chic and infinite versatility. My go-to pieces: the high-rise linen shorts, and oversized shirt (cute over a swimsuit too!), above, and the linen cropped top, below. Check out the entire no-fail collection here!
wild side
Thursday, July 9
Not only are TKEE's new print sandals cute (especially at $75 a pop!), but reeeally cute as a mix and match pair! Like a walk on the wild side, if you will.
cottagecore
Wednesday, July 8
The New York Times defines "cottagecore" as a reaction to hustle culture. According to Wikipedia, it's an aspirational aesthetic and lifestyle rooted in nature and domesticity, a blossoming movement stemming from mass quarantining and the pandemic. It emphasizes simplicity and pastoral peacefulness as an escape from modern world dangers. Angelenos, always one step ahead of the game, have actually been practicing this for years, calling it Laurel Canyon Louche. The bottom line is: I'm embracing it! And so can you with certain pretties like the floral Doen, above, (I also love this color) and the lace stunner, below, this striped and ruffled Lug Von Siga, this cozy-chic shearling Coach cardigan (that's on sale and will take you straight through next winter and beyond!) this sophisticated-meets-sexy Fil de Vie, this bow-back Topshop, and this puff-sleeved And Other Stories denim blouse, and this subtly embellished button down by Anthropologie (last pic).
on repeat
Tuesday, July 7
For my sister's first day back at the office--AKA a photo shoot set in New York City--she sported a simple but stunning tank top, above, that she's been wearing day in and day out while staying at home, jeans and a blazer. It got me thinking about my own re-entry outfit(s), which will be decidedly pulled back and pared down. In fact, they will look a lot like the ones pictured here: easy yet polished, suitable to go out and about or just hang tight. They will include casually-leaning pieces that are also interesting, like the Pixie Market skirt-like culottes, above, or the H&M eyelet shorts and relaxed-fitting denim ones, below. Also on repeat: a clean and versatile Nanushka shirtdress, this pinstriped, puff-sleeve Rebecca Taylor tunic, these organic cotton high-rise trousers by And Other Stories, the best oversized white button-down shirt ever made, this belted (on sale!) BA&SH blazer, and a perfectly-boxy white tee by The Great.
blazer up
Tuesday, July 7
The kind of blazer that I can throw over a dress or a t-shirt--and keep everyone guessing as to where I got it. My new layering linchpin!
