LE CATCH

I think it's necessary to point out all the runway-inspired goodies poised to sell out at H&M pronto! It seems the rest of the world has not caught on yet to these giddily-affordable scores, but I'm officially letting the cat out of the bag--or at least into my shopping bag! Let's start with the red paper bag pants, above, and the totally amazing Celine-spirited hounds-tooth culottes, below. Then check out the following: the pleated gold-flecked skirt (that in real life looks--no joke--fancy designer) along with the terrific suede western boots, the chic fringed woven blazer as well as the boxy Chanel-like one (I'd size up for a cooler, oversized fit), the pearl-embellished ($19!!) sweater, the tapered high-waist jeans, the perfectly pastel knit hoodie and the metallic puffer jacket (last snap). I'll drop the mic now.

Shopbop comes in with the win (again) today, offering literally thousands of fall staples on sale. I mean, take the slam dunk Kule jacket, above, to be worn everyday (it's faux, FYI)! Also incredibly compelling: this totally Chanel-looking knit by Paul & Joe (below), these J Brand high-waist jeans, this Autumn Cashmere statement turtleneck (I'd size up for a roomier fit), this floral Faithfull The Brand blouse (to be worn under a blazer now and over a bikini later), these zebra-print Miaou jeans, and these Phat Buddha camp exercise leggings. Russian stylist Natasha Goldenberg's Miu Miu blouse-and-sweater set not only reminds me of my childhood Ralph Lauren obsession but re-kindles it! In fact, her look inspires me to do my own DIY knit layering with a lace-collared blouse. While this combo is a strong trend this winter (thanks to Celine!), it utilizes pieces that can be worn separately for seasons to come. So good all around. I particularly adore these cute collared options from Opt, Doen, Sandro (minimalist and on sale), Rebecca Taylor, and, yes, Ralph Lauren.

LA's 80-and-sunny weather has me vicariously vacationing via model Rocky Barnes. Her perfect bathing suit-and-cover-up wardrobe makes me want to elevate my heatwave habit--or at least stockpile staples for my next who-knows-when tropical getaway. (P.S. She's currently six months pregnant and looking as hot as ever--so inspiring!) I mean, how cute is her shell-trimmed Lily & Rose one-piece, above, which could also be worn as a top with a denim mini or beach-to-street wrap skirt. And her below robes/dresses from Rhode Resort (on sale!), Kai Collective, Hemant and Nandita, and We are Hah!

Resale was a twenty-four-billion-dollar market in 2018, and will grow to sixty-four billion dollars by 2028, making it one and a half times the size of the behemoth fast-fashion business—the Zaras and H&Ms and Forever 21s of the world.they could find things that were unique, they could buy brands they normally couldn’t afford, and it turned shopping into something of a treasure hunt. Thirty per cent said that buying resale is an environmentally responsible choice.

A catch-up lunch with some girl friends the other day sparked lots of interesting conversation that ranged from fund-raising to managing puppies to closet sharing. The last subject got my mind meandering all the way to Europe, where the women are currently bent on dark denim. It would be nice to closet share with Parisian stylist Leia Sfez, above, non? She proves that black jeans--specifically Re-Done high-waist jeans--are tres chic. Plus, super versatile. And a sophisticated cut above the usual blue. Others across-the-world closets I want to raid belong to Camille Charriere, immediately, below, with her AGOLDE straight legs, and Anne-Laure Mais, last pic, in her pretty much sold out J. Brand faded black jeans.

Lately, I've been piling on the charm necklaces, as you may have seen on my Instagram feed, but now (like, as of today), I'm adding a new gem to the mix: the lariat! Because not only do they compliment this season's sexier necklines, but they're just a little unexpected. I especially love the ones that can be modified--i.e., you can wear as a traditional necklace or as a lariat--such as these by Jennifer Zeuner, Shashi, Ariel Gordon (on sale!), Lana, Poppy Finch, and Jenna Blake.

It pays to have friends in high (fashion) places--and to be the lucky beneficiary (me!) of their positions! Let's start with my bag designer friend Clare Vivier, who turned me on to the (above) CUTEST trench coat in history! It's by Mille, and it's really all I need to look chic right this minute, even with just a pair of jeans and a tee (see my Pinterest page for proof!). Then there are my beloveds at The A List in Beverly Hills, who curate go-to brands like J.Crew, for example, and inspire me with these super fancy-looking snakeskin jeans, leopard print pants and matching blouse (so, so good!); along with Rebecca Taylor (this adorable floral dress--see me in it here!) and Brazilian label Farm Rio (this ethereal print wrap dress). Additional brands they've turned me onto recently: Aritzia with its yummy and super affordable sweaters (below!); Lou & Grey, with its seriously flattering $54 wide-leg jeans (size up!) and Outdoor Voices most luxurious-feeling, body-boosting workout wear. That's what friends are for, right?!

My friends make fun of me because I tend to wear lots (and lots!) of layers when it's cold outside. Like, maybe too many for most people, but I just like being on the warm side. This might explain why I'm particularly drawn to this season's knit dress trend. It's basically head-to-toe warmth and designed for laissez-faire layering--plus delivers extra style points and snugness. What's not to love?? There are also so many variations, suitable for every mood and temperature swing. Case(s) in point: this striped Jacquemus dress (similar to below), this gorgeous go-anywhere Anna Quan ribbed slip-on, this puff-sleeve Ulla Johnson mini, this sexy cashmere Jonathan Simkhai, and this Rixo leopard-print midi in the last pic (made from jersey but looks like knit, so good for mild days, plus figure forgiving, too!).

Most days a week, I'm in two outfits a day: one for working out and the other for work, work, work! The first look has less wiggle room in terms of variety (my exercise gear is 99% flattering black!) but I can play around with what to wear over my leggings and sports bra. Sporty-chic jackets, flashy sweatshirts and zip-up fleeces help, particularly if they work post-workout, like the above reversible Tory Sport jacket, this shearling Varley sweatshirt, this Splits59 tie-dye pullover, this Adam Selman cropped print hoodie, this camo BB Dakota sweatshirt, and this Target print puffer.
